Call of Duty: Cold War I a good sequel?
Call of Duty: Black Ops: Cold War was 2020's installment to the Call of Duty franchise. More exactly a sequel to the Treyarch game Call of Duty: Black Ops. I truly believe Black Ops is the best Call of Duty out there. But Cold War had a very different creation.
Call of Duty: Black Ops: Cold War was originally not going to be in the Black Ops world. It was made by Sledgehammer Games but because of problems between companies, they were thrown out. Treyarch took over and was forced to make the game into the next Black Ops. Because of this, we can't look at it the same way we looked at Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.
Story

The story begins with Alex Mason and Russel Adler. Soon, Frank Woods is also introduced. Both Mason and Woods come from the first Black Ops while Adler is a whole new character. You play for a bit until you get to do your first choice. This is while you interrogate your target and here we got one of my first problems. The silent protagonist. I get that the main character, Bell, is silent. But I have no idea why Mason is silent when you play as him.
The main story then goes to introduce Bell. The biggest problem you see is how there are two stories forced together. This being Adler and Bell's story and Mason and Woods's story. It is clear that Adler's part wasn't meant to be in the Black Ops universe and was forced to become that because of Treyarch taking over the game.
You can easily see the difference in tone as you play. It is far darker and more stealth in Bell's story. And then you go over to Mason and Woods where it is an action film. It doesn't really work together.
The story continues with the CIA trying to take Perseus down. Perseus being a Russian spy. In the CIA, we see Adler, Bell, Woods, Mason, and a few other side characters. I feel like most of these characters work, except Woods and Mason who aren't from the previous game.
Both Mason and Woods have new voice actors. The same with Hudson, a character from Black Ops who gives you your missions in Cold War. I believe this was the wrong thing to do. Woods's new voice actor is okay. Hudson's is pretty good, to be honest. But Alex Mason's new voice actor has nothing in common with the original voice actor from the other Black Ops games. The writing isn't that good for these characters either. It feels like no one who wrote the characters in Black Ops and Black Ops 2 are left here. It feels far too weird.
I would say Adler's story is far better than the Mason and Woods story. Adler is a fantastic new character who really works in the 1980s feeling of the game. Through the game, you even learn you, Bell isn't the man you think. He is actually brainwashed just like Mason was in the first game. Bell is a former operative under Perseus who was brainwashed to help the CIA find and stop Perseus.
In the end, you get a choice to get a good, an evil, and an even more evil ending. The good ending is the canon ending but I actually prefer the evilest ending. It can't be canon because of the fact that half the world is nuked and characters from Black Ops 2 die in that ending.
The game ends with Adler and Bell both pulling guns on each other. But we don't know who shot first. I actually really like this game. It works well in the world of Black Ops but you can't see it as a sequel to Black Ops because both Black Ops and Black Ops 2 are both much better than this game.
Gameplay
The gameplay in Cold War is pretty good. It is a less updated version of the gameplay in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare which is the previous Call of Duty from the year before. That was made by
