Episode 3 "Into The Slums"

Jim Gordon is questioning his work as a police detective. Chicago was bad but Gotham is worse. He thinks about quitting but he can't tell Barbara. He doesn't her to worry about it when she's pregnant. 

Bruce decides it is time to actually see what Gotham City looks like. He dyes his hair gray, makes a scar with makeup, and puts on some old clothes. Bruce then heads to Gotham City's streets calling himself "Matches Malone".

Gordon is at the police department as he hears Harvey Bullock talking to a few police officers about a lawyer in Gotham. The lawyer is clean. Hates dirty cops and lawyers. When Jim hears the name, he heads for his office. There he meets the lawyer, Harvey Dent. Jim and Harvey talk about the police in Gotham City. In the beginning, both hesitate to say too much as they don't know if the other one is under Loeb's payroll. But they end up saying the truth and agreeing that Loeb isn't good for Gotham. 

Bruce continues to patrol Gotham City as he gets to the slums. He walks around until a sixteen-year-old girl tries to make him buy her. When Bruce says "no", her pimp gets furious as a fight breaks out. A woman named Selina Kyle jumps into the fight as she fights both the pimp and Bruce. It all ends with Bruce being stabbed and forced to run. He gets away to a place where Alfred can pick him up. 

Back at Wayne Manor, Bruce gets inside a large hall. He sits down in front of a painting of his father as he begs for forgiveness. And says that he wants a sign. A bat then flies straight through the window. It lands in the corner of the room. Bruce looks at it as he says he understands. 

Gordon leaves Harvey Dent's office when he is attacked by three men in ski masks. They beat Jim up. One of them uses a baseball bat. As Jim lies on the floor injured, one of the men calls Gordon "Jimbo". Which only Arnold Flass does.
