I Hate Resident Evil: Village

I love Resident Evil. I haven't been a fan for that long though. Because of my age, I didn't grow up with the first few games and because of that, I never thought about buying a game that was like the fifth installment in a series. But Capcom's Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (2017) was what brought me into the Resident Evil universe. My brother bought the game and we played through it twice before going through all the DLCs. It made me buy Resident Evil 2 Remake (2019) when it was released and later Resident Evil 3 Remake (2020). I also watched multiple animated movies and Youtube videos about the lore because I was hooked but the old gameplay made it hard for me to really get invested in the old games. What I was truly waiting for was one thing. The next installment. The sequel to the game that introduced me to the franchise. And now we got it. Resident Evil: Village...

Before I get into the game, let's get through what I wanted from the game. I didn't have unrealistic expectations. I wanted a game with the same base as Resident Evil 7, adding new weapons and maybe some new mechanics. I wanted the same horror feel RE7 had and I wanted more connections to the previous Resident Evil games by showing more of Chris Redfield and maybe some other characters from the other games. Did I get any of this? Kinda. I got more of Chris.  I got the same gameplay as RE7 but they didn't really understand why that was great gameplay. And I got... less horror. Yes, the survival-horror game took away most of the horror because the previous game was "too scary". Let's see exactly what went through my head as I played the game.
