The Flash Season 3 A
The Flash was a really good show. The first two seasons were peak superhero television to me. But when season 3 rolled around, it was clear that they rehashed the plot for every season. The show also had the biggest mistake they have ever made. Flashpoint. The show really made Flashpoint into one episode. The story arc could've been at least half a season but we are going with 9 episodes. Making it the mid-season finale is the end of Flashpoint. This post, season 3 A, will only be the Flashpoint storyline.
Plot
We won't begin a few months in like the actual show did. Instead, we start with Barry waking up in his bed at his apartment. It is the first time he wakes up in Flashpoint. Barry looks around and doesn't remember much. He then sees police cars driving by. Barry gets out and starts running but there is no super speed. He falls down on the ground as his mother finds him. He hugs her in surprise. Not knowing how she is alive. After this, he follows her back to her house and meets his father. We will have a scene with all of them together. Nora then asks Barry when the wedding is. He doesn't understand leading to Nora asking how he is feeling.
Later, Barry gets to work. He is working at STAR Labs. No longer owned by Harrison Wells but by Cisco Ramon. Barry gets inside to meet Caitlin Snow who kisses him. He realizes Caitlin is the one he is going to marry. The tv is on and the news comes up. First, they talk about The Flash and his battle with Speed Demon. The reporter says it is unsure if it is connected to the meta-human war going on. They then switch subject to the meta-human war. A large war going on with two sides. Both are full of meta-humans.
Barry is unsure of everything and travels to Star City. He goes to the Arrow Bunker where he looks for Oliver. A hooded figure stands inside and beats Barry down. Barry tries to convince Oliver when the hooded figure explains Oliver Queen is dead. We then see that the hooded figure is none other than Slade Wilson. We now learn Oliver Queen died on the island. Slade survived and took the hood to honor Oliver and Shado. He is now called The Hood and not The Arrow or Green Arrow.
It takes a lot of convincing from Barry to make Slade realize that Barry is telling the truth of another world. Because of this, Barry and Slade try to recreate the accident that gave Barry his powers. They succeed and Barry goes to Cisco Ramon to get a new suit.
During this, The Flash and Speed Demon fights in the city. Barry, without a suit, runs out to help. Speed Demon beats The Flash but Barry pushes Speed Demon back and saves The Flash. He then learns The Flash is actually Wally West. Barry takes Wally to STAR Labs where Caitlin helps him get back on track. Iris West then walks inside saying it was wrong of Cisco to take Wally to STAR Labs. But Cisco explains Barry was the one who took him there. Iris is furious. She yells at both Cisco and Slade. Through this, we learn Wally and Slade teamed up just like Barry and Oliver but their team-up didn't work like it did in the normal timeline.
Barry finally suits up as Slade wants him to meet the leader of the "good" side of the meta-human war. Barry asks Wally to help them but Wally explains he won't get involved in the war. They get to the base of operations led by Citizen Cold. Leonard Snart is in this timeline a good guy who has meta-human abilities to shoot ice. Snart explains the situation of the war and that they are fighting Deathstorm which is an evil version of Firestorm. This will be with Jackson and Stein.
We will have Slade and Barry help in the war against Deathstrom. But we then see Speed Demon fight, Wally, again. Barry gets there to help when Speed Demon nearly kills Wally. He then unmasks Wally to see that it is his son. We learn that Speed Demon is Daniel West. Daniel is Joe West's brother and the father of Wally West. Because of this, Daniel helps to get Wally to STAR Labs.
After this, Barry, Slade, and Snart go to fight in the war. During this battle, Deathstorm goes supernova and is about to make the whole city explode. Barry is about to stop it when Reverse Flash arrives and beats Barry down. Barry asks how Thawne did all of this when Thawne tells Barry he was the one who created this world. When Reverse Flash is about to hold Barry there forever, he is shot. An arrow goes straight through his back and out his chest. Slade Wilson stands behind him saying "Run Barry, run!". Barry runs back in time and stops himself from creating Flashpoint. Saving the day.
Explanation
Flashpoint is a lot different from the comics but still has the same plot. Instead of using Aquaman and Wonder Woman, it is two sides of meta-humans. There will be a lot of meta-humans we've seen before but also new characters who will appear later in connection with Doctor Alchemy.
Slade Wilson is the stand-in for Thomas Wayne Batman. The reason we aren't using Robert Wilson is that 1, it is a straight copy of Batman. And 2, it is more interesting to use a character we've seen previously.
To make the episodes work, we will have meta-humans as a kind of villain of the week. This is mostly to explore the world of Flashpoint and have us understand everything. There would be cameos of characters from The Flash, Arrow, and Supergirl. This is to make sure it feels like a version of the whole Arrowverse and not only The Flash.
When it comes to Daniel West. He is the real father of Wally West which he knows in Flashpoint. We are going further with this after Flashpoint.
Conclusion
The whole thing with this is to make it a whole event. It will be like they start a new show out of nowhere. We have new world-building, new characters, and new relationships. This isn't one episode that rushes through everything. We are pushing it to make it feel more impact-full.
A more important thing is Daniel West. Daniel is Wally's father after Flashpoint but he doesn't know that. That is the biggest change Flashpoint does. Wally grew up with Joe his whole life, believing Joe is his father. But we will learn more about this later. How Daniel was his father but this was hidden because of reasons that will be explored more in season 3 B.
